Kalangala District Forum of People Living with HIV/AIDS Network (KAFOPHAN)
is an umbrella organization of people living with HIV in Kalangala District. It was started in the year 2003, and it is registered as an NGO with the National NGO board.
KAFOPHAN is the member of National Forum of People living with HIV Networks in Uganda.
What We Do?
Uganda still remains one of the world's poorest countries whose main population consists of mainly young people, the growing population is faced backed by limited economic development has resulted into a series of challenges such as; early child marriages, school-dropouts, prostitution, unwanted pregnancies, slum development in urban areas and increased crime among others.
KAFOPHAN aims at improving general health conditions of communities in Kalangala District through increased access to clean and safe water, good hygiene conditions, sanitation facilities.
Uganda has got the biggest population affected with HIV/AIDS. With Antiretroviral therapy (ART), people with HIV can stay healthy, live longer, and significantly reduce the risk of transmitting HIV to others. This encloses healthy living and HIV treatment that has kept a lot of people living for long.
